CANDI KIZER, LMFT

- Licensed Psychotherapist -

ABOUT ME. I am a trauma informed and culturally aware therapist, making me a caring and supportive clinician. I am focused on ensuring that individuals feel safe to discover their true selves, develop resilience and can navigate their futures in healthy and optimistic ways. I am a veteran of the US Army and have worked with a vast array of populations. My life experiences, education and training have made me the ideal therapist for someone who wants to grow in positivity, building self-esteem and learning how to manage life’s stressors. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, playing, and watching sports and spending time with friends.

MY APPROACH. I am an empathetic and compassionate therapist who uses specific interventions that fit my client’s needs and promotes restorative health. I am passionate about using a strengths-based, person-centered approach, for treating my clients. By using this approach, I encourage my clients to internally initiate the healing process and to reach their therapeutic goals. I recognize the significance of identifying an individual’s unique journey and I use a culturally sensitive lens to help tailor treatment goals to the person in front of me. I believe healing incorporates not just the mind, but the body and soul as well. I hope to create a safe and caring atmosphere where clients feel unrestricted and unobstructed in discovering and identifying their feelings and thoughts that lead to emotional challenges.

MY EXPERIENCE. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from National University in 2019 and have worked with many diverse communities. I have worked and provided services at the IOP level of care, and have worked with addiction, trauma, PTSD, social pressure, vocational and academic anxiety, depression, and anxiety. I have worked with both active duty and retired military service members and I enjoy treating individuals, couples, families, adolescents, and children. I am Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy certified (TF-CBT) and utilize various other tools and techniques to help my clients find health. I am also experienced with developing self-identity and helping my clients joyfully engage in their daily functioning.
